Albert Renger-Patzsch
|
Albert Renger-Patzsch was born June 22, 1897 in Wurzburg. He was a German photographer associated with the new objective of taking photos. He began making photographs by age twelve after military service in the First World War. In its sharply focused and matter-of-fact style his work exemplifies the esthetic of The New Objectivity that flourished in the arts in Germany during the Weimar Republic. Like Edward Weston in the United States, Renger-Patzsch believed that the value of photography was in its ability to reproduce the texture of reality, and to represent the essence of an object. He wrote: "The secret of a good photograph—which, like a work of art, can have esthetic qualities its realism Let us therefore leave art to artists and endeavor to create, with the means peculiar to photography and without borrowing from art, photographs which will last because of their photographic qualities". In the early 1920s he worked as a press photographer for the Chicago Tribune before becoming a freelancer and, in 1925, publishing a book, the choir sallies Cappenburg. He had his first museum exhibition in 1927.A second book followed in 1928,The World is Beautiful. This was his best-known book because its a collection of one hundred of his photographs in which natural forms, industrial subjects and mass-produced objects are presented with the clarity of scientific illustrations. During the 1930s Renger-Patzsch made photographs for industry and advertising. His archives were destroyed during the Second World War. In 1944 he moved to Wamel Möhnesee, where he lived the rest of his life.

Evaluation
Stated this project by looking at and artist called Albert Renger-Patzsch. His work is highly influence by natural objects but he also manages to show the same elements in geometric forms. So I got my inspiration from this way of taking pictures and I had to take 100 images inspired by his aesthetic. When taking my images I had to consider the amount of light that I was letting in the image, so I made sure that I took this image during the day because it was the only way that I could get good light and aperture. Most of the image that I took have a lot of light coming through them and also creates patterns from this. I tried to make the images look as forces as I could because I had to zoom in when taking them so it created a lot of distractions. However this image creates a lot of geometric shapes, from the trees and also from how the camera is positioned, however some of the pictures are too bright which makes some of the image not as interesting as they would have been if they were a bit darker. So when am editing the images I will have to add more contrast to them so they look as interesting as the others.
One other element that I have to be very conscious about when taking my images was how I was framing my shoots. Because I was taking the images out in the public I have to be very careful when shooting because I didn’t want my faming to be interrupted by anything. What I did was I had to zoom in in most of my images because I what it look very geometric and organised. I wasn’t impressed with some of my images because of how out of focus some of them look and also how busy they are.
In these images, I have made some of the objects in the shoot blurred out because I wanted to concentrate on the force of only the objects that I found interesting. By doing this it made the images very elegant and well thought of. When taking this images I mostly was looking above eye level which means that is was pointing my camera at the objects. By doing this it has made the images look very different because although I took the image from above eye level, majority of them look like I took them straight on at the object. the is a lot of texture been shown in this images because of how I position my camera, when taking this images I have noticed that when you zoom in , it really shows all the details in an object. so this is why the texture in my images are very vigilant. I feel like all my images are really successful because I really paid attention to all that I learned from Albert Renger and interpreted it to the best of my ability.
